Colorful cables connecting a modular technology system

What vendor agnostic actually means, and how to tell if your provider is

Every technology provider says they are on your side. The claim is free. The behavior is what costs something, and it shows up in a few observable places.

The recommendation trail

Ask your provider for the last three times they recommended against the bigger purchase: the simpler platform, the smaller license count, keeping the system you already own. A genuinely vendor agnostic advisor has these stories ready, because saying no to revenue is a routine part of the job. A reseller with a quota has a sudden interest in changing the subject.

The bench

Objectivity requires options. A provider certified on one platform will recommend that platform with complete sincerity, because it is the only tool they carry. Breadth is what makes honesty affordable: Gage maintains 25+ leading vendor partnerships across communications, CX, security, networking, and carriers precisely so the recommendation can follow the requirement.

The compensation question

It is fair to ask how your provider makes money on each recommendation, and a good one will answer plainly. What you are listening for is not the absence of margin, which is how businesses survive, but whether the economics push toward a particular answer before your requirements are even gathered.

The tell in the assessment

The fastest test is what happens when you ask for an assessment. If the deliverable is a quote, you received a pitch. If it is a prioritized roadmap that includes things to keep, things to fix cheaply, and things to buy, with reasoning you can challenge, you received advice.

We are happy to be held to that standard. Book a Gage Technology Assessment at gagetech.com/assessment and judge the deliverable for yourself.
